ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Access to recreation and leisure services are a critical part of a fulfilling life for residents. Culpeper County Parks & Recreation and its partners aim to provide all community members access to high-quality recreation facilities, programs, and services. For community members with disabilities, that means developing more inclusive and adaptive programs and services that create and foster a sense of belonging.
Culpeper County Parks & Recreation’s core mission is to provide enriching experiences for all. This goal is fulfilled at recreation centers, parks, and alternate facilities. These facilities serve as central hubs where all people can come together to improve their overall physical and mental health while building relationships and making connections.
The “Reimagining Recreation” plan will review how Culpeper County Parks & Recreation and its community and professional partners can:
- Increase the quantity and quality of accessible programs and services.
- Ensure accessibility plans reflect users’ needs. Accessibility plans will be created and implemented on a needs basis at the discretion of Parks & Recreation Staff. Accessibility plans will include items such as medical needs, supervision needs, behavior needs, physical needs, etc. Accessibility plans will be reviewed and updated quarterly.
- Promote positive, inclusive relationships.
