Supervisor Bates currently serves as Chairman of the Culpeper County Board of Supervisors.
Chairman Bates was elected to the Board of Supervisors on November 5, 2019 as the Catalpa District representative. He was sworn in on December 17, 2019 assuming office January 1, 2020. Prior to being elected, Mr. Bates served on the Culpeper County Planning Commission since October 2017.
Chairman Bates is a Veteran of the USAF and is a lifelong resident of Culpeper. He has been a local business owner for over 30 years and volunteers with numerous community organizations. Paul is an active member of Culpeper Baptist Church.
Chairman Bates currently serves as Chairman of Personnel, Chairman of Public Safety, is serving on Rules, CEDAC, Joint Capital Planning, and the Chamber Board. Mr. Bates currently serves as the Alternate on Town and County Interaction, the Airport and the Cable Commission.
Mr. Bates term expires December 31, 2027.
