***At Laurel Valley Recycling Center there is a container for glass, aluminum and tin, newspapers and magazines, cardboard and plastics grades 1 through 5.
Aluminum
Aluminum is not magnetic (i.e. cans, foil, etc.), it is accepted at both locations.
Automotive Needs
The Laurel Valley Solid Waste Transfer Station will accept antifreeze, motor oil and tires.
Retailers of batteries are required to accept your old battery IF you are purchasing a new battery from them. Contact your local auto parts store for more information.
Batteries
Alkaline Batteries can be disposed of in your normal household trash.
Rechargeable Batteries are recyclable through the RBRC (Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation). They recycle the following battery chemistries: Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd), Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH), Lithium Ion (Li-ion) and Small Sealed Lead* (Pb). They have drop-off locations in many cities across the Country.

Corrugated Cardboard

Lignum Convenience Center
Only accept thick double or single lined with corrugation. Cannot accept thin, glossy, waxy cardboard, such as poster board, etc. The items must be dry, and breakdown into pieces that will fit into the slots of the containers. We do NOT accept colored cardboard or cardboard that has been coated with wax or clay
Glass
Accepted at:

Lignum
Remove the caps or lids (anything metal). Paper labels do not need to be removed, but we do ask that you empty and rinse the bottles. We do NOT accept the following: ceramics, clay pots, blue glass, crystal, light bulbs, mirrors, window glass, heat resistant ovenware (Pyrex, etc.), or BROKEN glass.

**$8.50 fee per item, for appliances which contain freon.
Leaves & Brush
These materials can be composted in your yard, or hauled to the Laurel Valley Waste Transfer Station.

Newsprint and magazines are accepted. Please keep your papers/magazines dry. We do NOT accept telephone books for recycling.

Plastics
Plastic food containers that are less than two gallons and Grades 1,2,3,4 and 5 are accepted at the Laurel Valley Recycling Center. Plastic must be cleaned and rinsed. We do NOT accept Styrofoam, plastic bags or rigid plastics such as PVC pipe/siding, toys, car parts, buckets, etc

Empty and rinse, paper labels do not need to be removed.
The recycling centers DO NOT ACCEPT the following items at any time:
Friable asbestos/asbestos rock, ammunition, explosives, petroleum contaminated soil, tar, automobile bodies, manure, dead animals, creosote-covered lumber, stumps, compressed gas cylinders, unidentifiable materials as well as biological, medical and radioactive waste.
