October 24, 2022 -IMPORTANT NOTICE All PV solar systems require a Zoning permit in addition to the permits required for the equipment installation.

The Solarapp+ permit does not include the Town or County of Culpeper Zoning Permit.

October 5, 2022 -IMPORTANT NOTICE Effective immediately, a copy of the complete health permit package issued by the Health Department is required when applicable before a building permit is issued.

September 12, 2022 -The Culpeper County Building Department has added several new permitting features which include an online permit application and plan submission, inspection scheduling via Civicgov and expedited plan review for residential photovoltaic roof mounted rail and panel solar systems to include battery energy storage systems via Solarapp+. Solarapp+ is for use by state licensed installers and its use is required by the Building Department. All other PV Solar systems will follow the normal permitting process.
