Important Code Change Announcement - Building Department

Effective July 1, 2022, all new permit applications and plan submissions shall comply with the 2018 Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC) and the technical amendments to the Adopted Model Codes and Standards.

Projects currently in progress under the 2015 USBC will remain under the 2015 code until finished as long as the project has not been abandoned in accordance with the USBC sections 108.8, 110.6 and 110.8.

Important:  All plans shall bear the designer’s information and codes and standards under which it was designed. For projects exempt from requiring a Registered Professional Design (RDP) in accordance with the Code of Virginia section 54.1-402, the title page shall bear the following information:

• Designer’s Name
• Address
• Occupation
• Contractor’s Master License # if applicable
