Effective March 23, 2020 at 8:00am, County offices are closed to the public.
As we strive to provide continuity of services as administered by the Building Department during this time and still comply with Local, State and Federal directives regarding the outbreak of COVID-19, we ask the following of our customers for the foreseeable future:
- Please conduct any and all business by phone or email. This includes general inquiries, submission of permits, plans and paperwork. We accept email submissions for permit and application requests. - Certain plan submittals and other paperwork that cannot be submitted via electronic means or postal mail can be left in the drop off bin located by the door on the main floor of 302 N Main St. with contact information and completed applications.

Effective October 1, 2019, a $200.00 concrete post pour request fee shall be assessed and paid for prior to inspection request approval.
2015 Code Changes - Training Guide
As of 09/04/19, 2012 codes are no longer accepted for new submitals as the 1 year grace period per section 103.2 of 2015 VUSBC, has expired. 2015 Virginia code editions can be found online under 2015 Virginia USBC in site tools.
Currently, the public portal to our new permitting system is not open to the public. If you have a 2018 or older permit, the online scheduling is still available. If your permit is 2019, please call in your inspection or email your request to email@example.com.
