A course designed for F&R personnel with basic and intermediate experience in vehicle rescue. Classroom and practical evolutions will alert students to new hazards associated with today's vehicles. Time will be spent on how the laws of physics affect the vehicle and its passengers and the outcome this has on tactical considerations. Emphasis is placed on the development of safe and proficient techniques for vehicle stabilization and lifting and in the use of air bags and hydraulic systems. |

Registration Requirements: EMT-B or higher are eligible to take the course. Registration deadline is April 30, 2010. Manuals can be ordered from itrauma.org. Cost of the manual is $54.00. Course fees are $35.00 per student. Class is limited to 15 students. Students who are not selected for the class will be put on a waiting list. |

Class time is from 08:00-17:00. A 16 hour course for the Basic or Advanced provider will review the skills necessary for rapid assessment, resuscitation, stabilization and transportation of trauma patients. Registration Requirements: Class time is from 08:00-17:00. All EMS providers recertifying after July 1, 2009 are required to have completed regional skills drills to be considered for OMD approval for continued practice and eligibility for a test waiver at their certification level. Module 1 as an awareness level course that prepares first responders to a mass casualty incident on how to take appropriate initial control actions of the medical issues and perform patient triage. Module 2 is an operations level course and prepares individuals in leadership roles in a mass casualty incident to assume staff positions and direct effective action within the medical group of an incident mngt. system. |
