Through the years there has been much confusion over what requires a permit and what does not.  Not all repairs are evident prior to starting the project.  Many times rot or insect infestation is discovered during the demolition stage and you now find that the structural member's integrity has been compromised.  Depending on the severity of the damage, a permit may not be required.

Building Permit Fee Schedule for Commercial and Residential were carefully reviewed and approved by the Board of Supervisors on August 5, 2008.  The new fee schedule will take effect on August 15, 2008.  All applications currently under review and applications submitted prior to August 15, 2008 will be calculated according to the current fee schedule.

Residential Fees virtually remain the same for new construction as do the trades: Mechanical, Electric and Plumbing ("M-E-P").  Most of the increases approved applied to Miscellaneous Fees.  Effective with this Fee Schedule will be an Administrative Fee of $75.00 that will be required at the time of submission for application of a building permit.  This fee will not be refundable if the project is cancelled or abandoned; but will apply to the total permit fee.
