Public notice is hereby given that the Board of Equalization for Culpeper County will meet on the days hereafter listed for the purpose of hearing complaints of inequalities including errors in acreage. Upon hearing such complaints, either oral or written, the Board will give consideration AND INCREASE, DECREASE OR AFFIRM such real estate assessments. Before a change can be granted, the taxpayer or his agent must overcome a clear presumption in favor of the assessment. The taxpayer or agent must provide substantial evidence that the assessment of the property is not uniform with the assessments of other similar properties or that the property is assessed in excess of its fair market value.

Looking for a little art and culture between the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping next weekend? Do you want to learn about a free art program offered to high school and middle school students in Culpeper County?
Visit The Depot in historic downtown Culpeper between 2:00PM and 4:00PM on December 12th and see a wide variety of original art, crafts, music, writing samples and even food created by high school and middle school students enrolled in the After School Art Program also known as (A.S.A.P).
The popular student-centered art program holds a “professional style” art exhibition twice a year at the conclusion of each semester. Now in its seventh year, the A.S.A.P. program, sponsored by Healthy Culpeper, is a free after-school art program that offers high quality art instruction two days a week at Culpeper Middle School.

While most people were grumbling about another Monday at work, a select team packed with Gambia’s top young soccer players was out having a heated practice at the Culpeper County Sports Complex.
Although Gambia is the smallest country on mainland Africa, its love of soccer or “football,” as it’s known throughout the rest of the world is immense. The team, selected from Gambia’s top young soccer players is touring the United States, practicing, playing in friendly matches and trying to gain as much playing time together as possible.
