We hope you’ve had a nice spring. They say that summer is starting, but with all the rainy days it’s kind of hard to tell. But regardless of the weather, registration for the summer schedule of classes is getting ready to start.
The Parks and Recreation Department has numerous offerings to help keep you busy this summer. From Adult Ballet to Cardio Kickboxing to Dog Obedience, Horseback Riding, and several summer camps.

Location: Culpeper County Parks and Recreation's Spilman Park
Time: Last Week
Last week Carl Stafford, a County Extenstion Office Agricultural and Environmental Agent, taught local Boy Scouts how to tell the differences between trees while walking the trails of Spilman Park. The scouts learned how to label trees at the park where they will help Culpeper Parks and Recreation with a number of upcoming projects. The project was an effective mixture of education, community improvement and volunteerism.

On May 2, the After-School Arts Program (ASAP) held its biannual art show at the Depot. The show coincided with Culpeper Day events being held in downtown Culpeper on the same day. The professionally styled exhibit marked the conclusion of the ASAP program for the year. Over a hundred pieces of original artwork were created by young artists from the county’s high schools and middle schools.
