Public Hearing for the 2015 Culpeper County Comprehensive Plan Update


The Culpeper County Planning Commission has scheduled a public hearing for consideration of the draft update of the Comprehensive Plan.  The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on July 8, 2015 in the Board of Supervisors Meeting Room, 302 N. Main Street, Culpeper, VA.  The entire document can be viewed Here.






Public notice is hereby given that the Board of Equalization for Culpeper County will meet on the days hereafter listed for the purpose of hearing complaints of inequalities including errors in acreage.  Upon hearing such complaints, either oral or written, the Board will give consideration AND INCREASE, DECREASE OR AFFIRM, such real estate assessments.  Before a change can be granted, the taxpayer or his agent must overcome a clear presumption in favor of the assessmentThe taxpayer or agent must provide substantial evidence that the assessment of the property is not uniform with the assessments of other similar properties or that the property is assessed in excess of tis fair market value.


Appointments will be scheduled every 30 minutes to minimize waiting.  To appear before the Board of Equalization, please call by June 10, 2015, 540.727.3444, ext. 285 from 8:30 A.M. - 4:30 P.M.  Meetings of the Board to hear objections will be held at Giles Miller Building, 151 North Main Street, Culpeper, Virginia (downstairs on the B-1 level).  The dates and times are:

The Board of Supervisors has committees which make recommendations on issues in a variety of areas of community life. A list of committees with brief descriptions is available. Perhaps you have an interest, knowledge or experience that is needed.

If you would like to contribute your service on a board or committee, we would like to hear from you.  Applications are available through the Administrative Office. Please call 540-727-3427 for additional information. All interested parties who live in Culpeper County, are encouraged to apply at any time.

Some seats become available during the year due to resignation. Applications for these seats are reviewed during the year.
Most committees have terms ending December 31. The deadline for these applications is in October and the Board makes decisions during closed sessions of subsequent meetings.

Applicants are notified as soon as possible after decisions are made.

RECALL: Manufactured Homes by Cavco (Fleetwood and Palm Harbor Homes) - Kidde Smoke and Combination Smoke/CO Alarm


Manufactured Homes by Cavco (Fleetwood and Palm Harbor Homes) - Kidde Smoke and Combination Smoke/CO Alarm.  On September 11, 2014, the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued the recall as the alarms could fail to alert consumers of a fire or a CO incident following a power outage.  The alarms in questions are hard-wired into the home’s electrical system. The manufacturer and Kidde have in place a notification for homes affected and the process to address remedial action for homes that may have been constructed with the Kidde Smoke detectors specified in the recall.  http://www.cpsc.gov/en/Recalls/2014/Kidde-Recalls-Smoke-and-Combination-SmokeCO-Alarms/
