BOARD OF EQUALIZATION FOR COUNTY OF CULPEPER
Public notice is hereby given that the Board of Equalization for Culpeper County will meet on the days hereafter listed for the purpose of hearing complaints of inequalities including errors in acreage. Upon hearing such complaints, either oral or written, the Board will give consideration AND INCREASE, DECREASE OR AFFIRM, such real estate assessments. Before a change can be granted, the taxpayer or his agent must overcome a clear presumption in favor of the assessment. The taxpayer or agent must provide substantial evidence that the assessment of the property is not uniform with the assessments of other similar properties or that the property is assessed in excess of tis fair market value.
Appointments will be scheduled every 30 minutes to minimize waiting. To appear before the Board of Equalization, please call by June 10, 2015, 540.727.3444, ext. 285 from 8:30 A.M. - 4:30 P.M. Meetings of the Board to hear objections will be held at Giles Miller Building, 151 North Main Street, Culpeper, Virginia (downstairs on the B-1 level). The dates and times are:
Tuesdays and Thursdays
April 7, 2015, Tuesday 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM
June 30, 2015, Tuesday 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM

The Board of Supervisors has committees which make recommendations on issues in a variety of areas of community life. A list of committees with brief descriptions is available. Perhaps you have an interest, knowledge or experience that is needed.

All interested parties who live in Culpeper County, are encouraged to apply at any time.
Some seats become available during the year due to resignation. Applications for these seats are reviewed during the year.
Most committees have terms ending December 31. The deadline for these applications is in October and the Board
makes decisions during closed sessions of subsequent meetings.
Applicants are notified as soon as possible after decisions are made.
